Waltraud Bittner brachte das Buchinger/Lützner-Fasten nach Österreich, verfasste das Buch Fasten für Österreicher, gründete die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Gesundheitförderung und bildete darin mehrere hundert Menschen zu Fastenbegleiter*innen und Vitaltrainer*innen aus, Seite an Seite mit ihrer Tochter Ulrike Borovnyak und einem großen Kreis an Mithelfer*innen. Sie wird für ihre klare Linie und liebevolle Strenge geschätzt und ist für viele die "Fastenmutter Österreichs". Zum Fasten kam sie über ihre Leidenschaft für das Thema Vollwerternährung. In diesem Jahr wurde sie 75. Den von ihr gegründeten Verein, die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Gesundheitsförderung (ggf), hat sie bereits an die nächste Generation übergeben, widmet sich aber immer noch leidenschaftlich den zwei wichtigsten Aufträgen in ihrem Leben: ihre große Familie und der Gesundheitsförderung.
