Volker Plass
2021 übernimmt Volker Plass die Geschäftsführung des Vereins ARCHE NOAH. Er bringt drei Jahrzehnte Erfahrung im NGO- und Umweltbereich mit: Nach Stationen beim „Österreichischen Informationsdienst für Entwicklungspolitik“ (heute Südwind-Agentur) und als selbstständiger Grafikdesigner und Kommunikationsberater von Non-Profit-Organisationen, gründete Plass 2000 die Interessenvertretung „Grüne Wirtschaft“. Nach seinem Abschied aus der Politik im Jahr 2016 war Plass zuletzt Programm-Manager bei Greenpeace Österreich.
Mit seiner neuen Rolle macht Plass seine gärtnerische Leidenschaft auch zum Beruf: „Als langjähriger Kunde und Mitglied von ARCHE NOAH ist mir die Kulturpflanzenvielfalt ein großes Herzensanliegen. Wie wir uns regional, saisonal und gesund ernähren, und dabei die wunderbare Vielfalt unserer Kulturpflanzen erhalten und vermehren, wird eine zentrale Frage der kommenden Jahrzehnte sein. ARCHE NOAH wird bei diesem Thema auch in Zukunft eine Schlüsselrolle innehaben und Antworten höchster Qualität geben.“ Der Verein ARCHE NOAH
Der gemeinnützige Verein ARCHE NOAH arbeitet seit über 30 Jahren an der Erhaltung und Entwicklung der Kulturpflanzenvielfalt. In Schiltern bei Langenlois befindet sich das ARCHE NOAH Samenarchiv mit rund 5.500 Sorten, darunter 800 Bohnen-, 600 Tomaten- und 150 Erbsensorten. Das Netzwerk des Vereins sichert auch die dezentrale Erhaltung vieler alter, seltener und regional angepasster Kulturpflanzen.
